Beautiful...such vibrant colors.

That's an insanely gorgeous image.

Even the flowers are Italian in Italy.

Yes, they certainly are. I pulled them up this morning as I walked home from the beach. They're all over the place.

I think, to a degree, the aesthetics of any culture are always informed by the flowers. I can see the entire Renaissance, the birth of Chiaroscuro, Mannerism, and on and on...as well as every season of Versace in these flowers. The Mediterranean personality is also quite apparent in their coloring and angularity.

Yes, the metaphorical interplay of light and dark is verrrry Mediterranean and most especially Italian. The wildflowers’ colors and their petals marked by dark bands reminded me of one of the seated figures in Caravaggio’s “The Calling of St. Matthew,” here.
