In planning my archeological expedition to my distant past I’ve found an excellent academic reference that addresses some of my concerns about the memoir process and form, and the fragmented nature of memory itself. Two women. One named Alicia. The other Zenia.

Alicia learns she was adopted, and is told her biological mother is a sweet old retired schoolteacher in Patterson, New Jersey.

Zenia learns she was adopted, and is told her biological mother is a world famous movie star who lives in a splendid villa in Switzerland.

Both Alicia and Zenia want to be recognized.
