1. Put a comma into the third sentence of Chapter 7.
2. Go to Hotel Royal Palm and soak for a half hour in the steaming thermal pool.
3. Order an espresso doppio con latte caldo at Roxy.
4. Get a hold of the real estate agent and ask her to arrange a viewing of the villa I intend to buy for Vittoria. I've had my eye on it for a while now. It's not a bad little place, if a bit on the odd side. Nice view of Punta Imperatore, eh?
5. Take a nap.
6. Remove the comma I put this morning into the third sentence of Chapter 7.

Joyce!

It must be Joyce or why else would I remember it at all . . ??!!

The Importance of Being Oscar

It's what Oscar Wilde replied when a reporter asked him to describe his day as a famous poet:

"I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again."

Re: The Importance of Being Oscar

oh, yes, I now remember what it was with Joyce: read in an essay that he spent hours changing the order of words in one sentence. It was the syntactically connection in my brain.

Oooh, is that a photo of the villa you have your eye on? I love it! The circle shape certainly is odd, but I think it looks cool all the same! :)

Oh, yes. That's the place I want!

i love that plan. i wish my plans were similar :))

You know the saying: "Failing to plan is planning to fail!"

A spectacular place at a spectacular location for spectacular people.

It must be yours.

Thanks! I've learned that money can't buy you love, but enough of it sure as hell can get you a nice view.

I am up too early and WOW what a place to behold... that's such a lovely scene. :D

I bet it's amazing inside too... post pictures? *grin*

Thanks for making early morning worth it.

That picture makes me yearn for a vacation.

That pic is taken on the coast road that extends from below Punta Imperatore to the village of Forio, and it makes a lovely walk.

Sounds like a good day to me! I wish my day could be so! And that villa is truly quaint and unique.. with a beautiful view, which I'm sure is even better in person. I think it will suit her.. I hope she likes it.

She Who Must Be Obeyed might like it, but then on the other hand she might not. There's just no telling!

I take comfort in knowin that you're out there...

takin 'er easy for the rest of us sinners...

hehe...seriously!

Hey! You've mentioned that you're from Y-Town. I'm from Cleveland and have been driving there a lot lately to do business with a local Ice Cream shop there..called Handles. Ever heard of it? It's a local legend...probably not as good as your local gelateria but not bad for american high-fat ice creams.

Anyway peace from O-hi-o

and watch those stress levels eh? It's not good for the body...

Re: I take comfort in knowin that you're out there...

It's been a LONG time since I've been in Youngstown. The only ice cream company I remember is Isley's, and I don't know if I've spelled it right. When I was a kid I used to listen to radio broadcasts of the Cleveland Indians games. Bob Feller was a pitcher way back when, if memory serves.

hello. we have several friends in common. i will add you to my friends' list.

Thanks, and welcome aboard!

Scrumptious view, I am in love. And yes, it is an odd little place, but perfect in its oddness, also in love with that.

*fighting overwhelming urge to watch Under the Tuscan Sun for the dozenth time*

*Sighing wish that my love would buy me a villa by the sea* (He buys me kitchen appliances and electronics. Maybe I shouldn't complain.)

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures.

I'm happy that you're enjoying them, thanks! Always good to hear from you...

That's a deal! But maybe a better idea will be for you to supervise the gardening staff, e.g., give them specific instructions on what needs to be done, and how, and when. And then you may join us on the veranda for high afternoon tea.
