Wow. No one yet sees your character as a grotesquely selfish, angry, immature manipulator? I find that fascinating.

Love the gratuitous "god bless her," on the latest reply; that was priceless. And an excellent choice of the St. Sabastien imagery.

As an edit, I'd only suggest "bingeing" for "binging," as the latter sounds more like what you'd no doubt be doing at the front desk bell if you didn't get the hotel clerk's immediate attention.

I gather you read the recent DSM article in the New Yorker?

Well, excuse me, I have to go wash some dishes now, and I know how that bugs you so much.

Many thanks for the spelling correction. Thanks also for the New Yorker link. Hadn't seen that article.

i'm always curious as to the intent behind the words...and wonder why some feel the need to be 'anonymous' as we are all 'friends' here.
if i'd been called on misspelling or 'keyboarding,' i'd be in deep shit.
keep on, john and get some sleep. ciao!

I'm not particularly fond of anonymous posts either. But what the hell. Maybe they have something to hide. Who knows?

Huh.

Phuh.

Well, for what it's worth, I like reading these stories. To me, it sounds like she was/is always on the offense, using her psychoanalysis as a weapon. I've been on the receiving end of that myself, and it's not a way to live (for me).

Thanks, I really appreciate your interest. You're right about it not being a way to live...but then James is a writer, after all, and he sees her as interesting material that doesn't come down the pike every day.

Haha, that's interesting. Why does she keep reading if she thinks so badly of you?

why are you sure it is a she?

It could certainly be a he, good point.

to be honest...my gut feeling also tells me it is a woman.
Anyway...good story, no?

It's only the opinions with names attached that count.

I have never ceased to be amazed at your long-sufferingness throughout this story. Hanging on for so long while she was constantly pushing you away and trying to dissect and analyze your every move would have had me long gone within a week.

Yes, you're absolutely right. But as a writer she presents some awfully interesting material. James would never pass up such an opportunity! She drove him absolutely nutz, but then he was willing to pay that price.
