Arrived Safely

Had an extraordinarily smooth trip and arrived safely a few hours ago. From Ischia to Napoli by ferry, thence to the airport for a flight to Munich. From Munich to JFK in New York. Quick ride into the city, and here I am. I stand at the window and look out at the East River and the bridge. Near midnight it's about 2 degrees F with wind chill into the minus range, but tomorrow's forecast is for little wind and just a few degrees warmer. Time to recover from jet lag. More details later.

benvenuto negli stati uniti!

I saw words to that effect when I walked through the terminal at JFK...only in Spanish. I think. I'm really BAD with lanuguages...still trying to master English!

hey, i'm glad you're here.

Good to be here, and I'm starting to think nostalgia ain't what it used to be. It's just the same, only different, if you know what I mean.

Glad to hear you made it safely!

Great room!

Thanks, it's good to be back...

welcome back to the usa. i anxiously await to read of your experiences (readings, etc.), impressions and perspectives of what it is like for you back in the america.
record it all john as your outlook and read are held in esteem.

Many thanks for your kind words. Yes, once I shake off the jet lag I'll be keeping a meticulous account from day to day, some of which I'll post here. New York on the drive in from JFK was particularly beautiful from across the East River and brought me back to my wild youth, which I spent on these streets in in these buildings!

Gawd that is so beautiful it is almost frame worthy....

melathonin is great against jet lag! YOu can get it at drugstores. It contains the sleeping hormone

Glad you arrived safely.
Take care.

Thanks for your good wishes...it's nice being back after so long in exile...

Dean, sorry about the IM...but I was juggling simultaneous IMs and had trouble keeping up with them...

Wow, what a view! And your hotel room definitely doesn't look like a backpacker's place, that's for sure! You don't do things by halves, do you John? ;) It's beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful time meeting your LJ friends! :D

Thanks! This is going to be a most interesting visit. BTW, it's not a hotel room but the home of a life-long friend who has graciously put me up for a while. And yes, that view is spendid, both at night and during the day.

wait...was it you who was posting a few months ago about how you wouldn't return to america while bush was in office?

i could have sworn...

I believe I said that I wouldn't consider living here while he was in office. This is just a visit, and I'll be returning to my exile in Italy!

You're here!

Welcome, the weather is bitter, but have a great time in NYC.

Don't forget Christo's Gates next month!

Looks like the weather is slowly improving. And yes, we'll take a look at those Christo things. They'll be all over the park, so we can't miss them if we tried!

Glad you made it safely. Looks like a nice room you have there.. I just love the frame on the mirror/picture between the windows. Hope you got some sleep.

Thanks, yes it's a lovely room. And yes I slept very well after a soak in a hot tub. Still have a bit of jet lag, but it'll pass soon...

I couldn't think of a better city to have jet lag in. Who sleeps in New York anyway?

Thank you! Glad to be here.
