Thirteen Years

I bought this in the winter of 1996, a few weeks after my divorce. With it at my side I wrote two volumes of VITTORIA’S ISLAND. Then DROWNING, which of course morphed into FELLINI’S ANGEL. It’s chipped and stained, yet fully functional. I never thought it would last this long.

I like this, on many levels. One of those chance objects that strays into our lives and ends up with its own story to tell.

This cup's appearance is just perfect: stained, aged, and chipped, yet intact and usable. Love it. And of course the whole CIA motif only adds to the story.

For the sake of brevity I failed to mention that when I first saw the cup I liked it so much that I bought not one, but two. Both have been with me for 13 years.
