"I've got some good news for you," Tommy said.
"What's that?" Mike asked.
"You're now a grandfather. A baby girl. We've named her Elizabeth."
A long pause.
"Yeah?" Mike said. "I got good news too."
"I just bought a new car, yesterday. It's something, you ought to see it."
"Yeah, ain't it?"
Then Tommy called his mother, Betty.
"I've got some good news for you."
"You're a grandmother. A baby girl. We've named her Elizabeth."
"My God, how wonderful! I'm so happy for you!"
"Thanks. So when are you coming for a visit?"
Tommy heard Betty gasp.
"You mean you want me to come?"
"Of course I do. You've got to see your granddaughter, don't you?"
"Oh, Tommy. You don't know how happy you've just made me. After all I did to you…all the terrible things I've done…"
"Forget it. Water under the bridge. Get a ticket. Let me know when you arrive and I'll pick you up at the airport."
