The moment Jack's camera captured Vittoria, he remembered the word scopophilia, from the Greek, meaning the love of looking. Her face appeared to be dissolving, but he preferred to think she was coming into being. This was about his intense desire for that incredibly lovely girl, and the fulfillment of his desire. It was a three-pointed triangle: Photographer, his subject, and the subsequent image. An expansion of his soul. And hers. Maybe a better term would be scopo-agape, a shared sense of visual desire. Now forever preserved, not subject to the whims of faulty memory.
