It looks like a livable town and walkable as well. Which brings to mind the question: Are there hiking trails on the island that take you through more nature scenes past wildlife? Any place that is good for bird watching, and the equivalent of a state park with camping?

There's a big pine forest near the village of Lacco Ameno, and of course you can always get on the couple of trails that lead to the top of Mt. Epomeo, the island's extinct volcano. Up there you get a view of the entire island below, and what's more there's a restaurant that has deck chairs and blankets so you can recline and take a nap after the strenuous climb.
