The Call Of Distant Voices

The reverberating fireworks explosions that daily attended the lengthy festival of St. Vito have finally concluded. Peace once again settles upon this beautiful island. Time for memories, reflections…and answering the call of distant voices.

oh, the photo is wonderful! i happened to be in rome for the festa di san gennaro once upon a time. it was like a fairy land, all those lights. if my memory is right, which it so often isn't, we had a happy dinner in trastevere that evening, across a piazza from a large church. i drank campari. memory just gave out. [g]

Campari with soda. Ah, yes. That's what I drank in Rome at the Piazza Navona a long time ago! As I recall the sun turned that glass into a blazing ruby apparition. The more I drank the more it glowed.

mmm, bello. wish we had a photo of that glass too!
